The idea of opening this site grew out of a desire to assist thousands of adoptive families, their relatives and friends in finding the gifts that “click” with their children's Russian heritage.

We wanted to help the families to stay connected with the soul of Mother Russia, the land of their children’s humble beginnings. It’s up to you whether to bring Russian culture into your child‘s American life. But if you decide to do so, you may want to introduce or re-introduce this culture through the enchanting language of Russian folk tales, beautiful sounds of Russian music or the visual feast of Russian films. Whatever piece of Russian culture you let into your son’s or daughter’s childhood, it will enrich their world and will make their horizons wider.

AdoptedfromRussia.com is an online-only store dedicated to providing a variety of children’s books, CDs, videos, toys and custom-designed items with a Russian theme. The website is founded by Svetlana O'Brien (photo) who had been a journalist back in her native Russia. She has been living in the USA for more than twelve years now and has many friends among families raising Russian children.
