This book opens with a wonderful bedtime story about Masha, a little girl who couldn't fall asleep .
Her mama tucked her in bed, turned off the light and left the room. But Masha first fell hot, then the bed seemed hard and the pillow too big and bulky. Masha pummeled the pillow: "Ow, you awful, lumpy thing!".
Then she kicked her blanket until it landed on the floor. So Masha slid off the bed, stuck her feet into her slippers and tiptoed out of the room.
When she went outside and down the porch steps, she saw Tyavka, the dog, stuck his head out of his kennel. "Grr-rr! Who is there?", he growled. Masha and Tyavka got along well. Want to know what happened next?
This sweet bedtime story is followed by two more stories about Masha, all of which written by Galina Lebedeva, and four more children's stories named "The Dandelion", "The SnowWoman", "Piglets' Tails" and "How the Rabbit Became a Lion".
