"Good-bye, Anna," - said Nikolai. "Keep your sisters safe inside you and may you find a happy home".

Nikolai was an old Russian doll maker carving six nesting dolls called matryoshkas, fitting perfectly one inside the other - except for Anna, who was the tallest, with the fanciest flower on the front of her apron and the wisest look in her eyes. On a winter day, when Nikolai finished his work, he sent all six nesting dolls off from the snowy Russian village to a toy shop in America.

Once they landed there, the littlest sister, Nina, was swept off the edge of the shelf. She begins a perilous journey that takes her from the street down to the rivers and streams. Will she ever be reunited with her sisters, the cherished Russian nesting dolls, matryoshkas?

The book's expressive, full-page color illustrations were made by Kathryn Brown, while the book itself was written by Corinne Bliss.

In English language.  For children age 4 to 8.

Publisher: Hyperion Books (USA). Large format. Hardcover. 32 pages.
