Written almost fifty years ago, this story, now in its Russian translation, will steal your heart.

A small bear from the "Darkest Peru" somehow makes his way to London's Paddington Station. Carrying an old suitcase, with several jars of marmalade, and wearing a tag around his neck that says "Please Look After This Bear", he is fortunate enough to meet the Brown family, who names him (you guess it) "Paddington".

The couple welcomed the bear (who is quite a character, as you, too, may soon find out) into their home and ... into the hearts of millions of readers all over the world. Although the charming book about the Paddington Bear was written by Michael Bonds in 1958, it was not widely known in Russia until recently, when Azbooka-Press published it in Russian language. The translation (by A. Glebovskaya) is excellent and makes a very enjoyable reading.  This particular volume contains the first, introductory, story "Paddington Bear" and "Paddington the Gardener".

In Russian language. Reading level: ages 9 - 11. But some younger children may enjoy listening to the story, too, if it's read to them aloud.

Publisher: Azbuka-Klassika (Russia). Large format. Hardcover. 64 pages.

With original color illustrations by R. W. Alley!
