This fable was written by master storyteller Oscar Wilde. It's about a baby boy found in the dark winter woods by a poor woodcutter. The child grows up beautiful but arrogant and cruel. He shows no pity to those who were weak or ill-favoured, whether they are people or animals.
One day he turns away a beggar-woman, who was his own mother looking for him for years. That very same day his beauty is turned into ugliness, so he begins his quest to find his mother to beg her forgiveness. Written for older children, this timeless fable is for all who are young at heart.
