This DVD opens with a wonderful 68-minute long animated film named "The Adventures of Buratino". This is a Russian version of the Pinocchio story which has been very popular in Russia with many generations of children.
Two other films on this DVD were also made in Russia. They are based on children's tales written by Gianni Rodari: "The Boy from Napoli" (20 minutes) and "Cipollino" (39 minutes). Gianni Rodari, an Italian children's writer, was awarded Hans Christian Andersen's Prize in 1970 for his contribution to children's literature. He traveled to the Soviet Union many times and his children's works were translated into the Russian language.
The story of Cipollino, featured on this DVD, is about a little boy with an onion head, who lives in the magical land where Mister Tomato and Baron Lemon rule. It's full of surprises that delight young spectators...
All three animated films are in Russian language. They were digitally restored in Hollywood, where English subtitles were added.
