This is a four-part animated series about the furry, unknown to science, animal with big, floppy ears called Cheburashka. He was accidentally found in the crate of oranges where he ate some and fell asleep. The sweet creature of indeterminable origin was turned away from the Moscow Zoo. He would have ended up being homeless had he not been befriended by a lonely crocodile Gena. This intelligent crocodile walks on his hind legs, loves to play an accordion and works at the zoo as a... crocodile. Crocodile Gena is singing a birthday song on the screen which is as widely known to Russian children as the "Happy Birthday To You" song is to American kids. The warm, good-natured cartoons with child-like innocent characters have been very popular with Russian children.
In addition to the Cheburashka stories, this DVD contains a short animated story called "Mitten". It's about a little girl who always wanted to have a puppy. When her Mom doesn't let her keep the puppy she gets from her neighbors, the girl starts playing with a mitten in the snowy yard, and to her surprise, the mitten turns into a puppy!
