This is a Russian-made film inspired by Mark Twain's stories about the mischievious boy from a small town on the Mississippi river.
Well, Russians fell in love with the boys named Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn long ago - Mark Twain has been one of the most well translated into the Russian language writers.
Here is the film directed by Georgiy Danelia, a Russian film director of Georgian descent, who became mostly known for his bittersweet comedies.
The film about one of the most popular Mark Twain's characters carries the spirit of his timeless novels. Its Russian title is "Sovsem Propashchii" which would translate into English as "Absolutely Hopeless".
The young actor who plays Huck Finn, Mitya Ershov, acts next to some of the greatest Russian actors - Evgeniy Leonov, Vladimir Basov and Vakhtang Kikabidze.
The film was made in the 70s but was remastered for this DVD release.
